“Best-Tasting Beverage”
Anna Gutierrez, Dillanos Coffee Roasters, Puyallup, Washington
With seven years’ experience in the specialty coffee industry, I
always have had a great time creating drinks with different syrups.
When trying to think of a drink for the Stirling Signature Beverage
Open, I wanted to be creative with a dessert that I love,”
Gutierrez says. “There were three things that I knew were a
must: Awesome syrups, smooth Dillanos coffee, and, of course, fire!
- ¼ oz. Stirling Going Bananas
- ¾ oz. Stirling Jamaican Rum
- 1 oz. Stirling Crème Brulée
- 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 heaping tbsp. brown sugar
- ¾ oz. Dekyper Crème de Banana
- ¾ oz. Appleton Rum
- ½ banana
- 1 oz. half and half
- 2 16-oz. cups of ice
- 1 shot espresso
Blend all ingredients except for half and half. Once ice is crushed, add
half and half. Blend and serve.
Slice banana down the middle and carve trough in the center. Using a tall,
skinny glass, place banana across the top and fill with brown sugar
and one teaspoon of 151 Rum. Carefully light the 151 on fire and
allow it to cook down the brown sugar. The flame will go out on its
own. Wait for applause.
